Yes but if you remember PTJ is also short general equities or at least was talking that trade a couple of months ago. Maybe its a spread trade at this point rather than being purely directional, he´s going long divergence between more commodity-ish stuff and the paper-y stuff. By that count he could be well in the red on gold and so forth for several quarters while deep in the black on his shorts, and then use that margin to buy even more gold and co. as hedges for the profits. Just a thought.
